any recommendations for manuals or tutorials how to mend a hole like this one in **linen** pants?
Boundary conditions: it had to be done by hand without any special equipment (but I'm pretty good at hand stitches of all kind & don't own a sewing machine) and it has to hold a few washes, at least.

For everyone else: please note I am asking people with experience in #mending or clothes #repair, not folks who point me towards something they found online or googled up.

Not sure why these holes are in the cockpit combing but I made these little access covers from resawn old redwood from a barn and yes those are brass bolts from a toilet flange I saved for a future purpose. They’re all going out to sea! I’ll shove some pool noodles in that void later, I’m sure I will find some lying around somewhere. The universe provides #repurpose #visiblemending #woodenboat #sail

@elizabethtasker a beautiful example of collaborative #repair and #visibleMending! (BTW, all embroiderers at our museum bring their own needles although the museum has the best materials. It's somerthing like 'wait, my handwriting flows better with my favourite pen'.)

Nachdem Mamas Stopfgarn nicht mit der Belastung klar kam (Pilling bis Fadenbruch), nochmal neues (unauffälliges) #visiblemending mit einem festeren und farblich passenden Jersey und Garn von der Schwiegermutter in DDR-Qualität.

@ExtinctionR Try to learn some #VisibleMending ! It's simple, it's fun, and you become the designer of your individual style (nothing disheveled)!
You can nearly endlessly use such #mendings and when the piece falls apart, cut it in scraps for becoming a patch for something else ... or bind several pieces to make an #artjournal!
#SlowFashion and #repair mustn't be ugly. It's creative and connects people eg by patch swaps.
