I think the most telling quote here is based on what the Justice Dept did: “Zines are not a crime!”

Why? Because it's a systematic attack on media that cannot be surveiled. And that is part of all this "trumped up" charge of such nonsense that owning a printing press is terrorism.

Back in 2002 I was debating with a former friend, Oz, about my issues with things like the Patriot Act, saying that it could be used to justify arresting people on bullshit charges in order to silence dissent. Oz, deeply Republican, said I was paranoid. Well, here we are in 2026 and the #Prarieland protestors are now being given half-century sentences on trumped (pun intended) up charges stemming from things like the Patriot Act.

I hate that I was right.

This is a goddamned calumny that should enrage everyone. This is sentencing designed to intimidate anyone legally practicing any form of protest. Meanwhile, the ICE murderers walk the streets unpunished. Absolutely despotic.
