Elizabeth Cady Stanton's racism, which included opposing the 14th and 15th Amendments, is directly comparable to the way Gavin Newsom, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, and other bigoted opportunistic Democrats throw trans people under the bus. You would think these putative "liberals" would have learned from history, but these vulpine scumbags would rather be rich than right.

I'm extremely weirded out that a number of very huge life decisions I recently made not only worked out beyond my expectations, but that these big moves were totally smoth and without any drama. I'm in such disbelief that I'm even revisiting my childhood trauma in an attempt to summon a "What's the catch?" comparative metric and I'm coming up empty.

Aside from a third act character turn that strained credulity, I really loved Kane Parson's BACKROOMS. Buoyed by a terrific performance from Chiwetel Ejiofor, the film throws off the yoke of its creepypasta origins to become a captivating mashup of Escher, BARBARIAN, THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, SNOWPIERCER, and Christopher Alexander. There's also an amusing subtext about the death of retail. I liked it more than OBSESSION. Strongly recommended!

I saw OBSESSION and largely enjoyed it. Curry Barker definitely has solid talent with the slow zooms and the slow pans and the great performance he gets out of Inde Navarette. But the dude is better as an unhinged WTF filmmaker rather than with the real. The first half drags, but the film is disturbing and often hilarious when it leans hard into the crazyass. Even so, I felt that the script was underbaked and could have been a devastating satire of the male loneliness epidemic. Too on the nose.

STAR CITY is grimly atmospheric in depicting limited volition as a guiding (and surprisingly gripping) counterpart to FOR ALL MANKIND's "bro anything is possible if we took it on the chin more" Weltanschauung. But I have to laugh at British accents subbing in for Russian ones. Feels like an unnecessary CHERNOBYL shoehorning.

This is horrifying. Abolish ICE needs to be the position of EVERY political leader right now. There is absolutely no "compromise" when they can kill as many people as they want.

ICE will no longer report deaths of detainees who have recently been released from custody

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Immigration and Customs Enforcement will no longer report deaths of detainees who have recently been released from its custody, in a change that could obscure the full human cost of the Trump administration’s mass detention policies

I'm done with Graham Platner. This article was fairly and thoroughly reported and acknowledged the women who did have better relationships with him. But he clearly lied about being ignorant about the Nazi tattoo and I cannot trust a man who has behaved worse than I ever have around women. Two loathsome people running for Senate. Maine, you figure it out.

Marjane Satrapi was an absolute legend. And this is a major loss for comics. You can listen to a podcast interview I did with her back in 2012.

This was brought to my attention this afternoon. The same Aaron Parnas DNC group that has falsely accused me of revenge porn and stalking attempted to create two unsourced pages on Wikipedia about me that were swiftly detected as attack/vandalism efforts by the good people at Wikipedia.

Basically any leftist who gets through to an audience is getting the Hasan Piker treatment. Utterly wild, man. They can never get me on my work. So they invent unsourced nonsense about me instead.

Kerouac's BIG SUR deserves so much more love. I forgot how gentle and sensitive this volume was. The tender passages about his cat dying, the death of hitchhiking culture, the loving appreciation for Northern California and the rugged journey. All of it reflects the very magic of living.
