Why regime change in Iran was never in the cards | About That
Although the U.S. and Israel claim several wins in their war against Iran’s military, the messaging from the start of the war about achieving regime change has fizzled out. Andrew Chang explains how Iran's deeply entrenched power structure and military strategy make its leadership so difficult to replace.

Makes Trump look extremely weak. He looks like a 6th grade student in class.

“It’s your choice to feel hurt or not.”
“Take back your power!”

A thread. 🧵

Telling people they ‘have the choice’ and to ‘take back their power’ can, at times, be a bit less helpful than one might think.

Why does the word 'protect' never seem to include giving people more power or autonomy?

Any #PowerStructure will abuse its power. The #crime is: "why does the #PoliticalSystem everywhere tolerates and even foster it." #ResidentialSchools #CatholicChurch and add other religions and institutions.

This article on the cult of being confident that's imposed on women seems to be an extract from their recent book.

Very interesting. Corporations like to externalize costs, and right-wing governments like to externalize governmental services and support by telling individuals to do things for themselves and not ask the government (which they elect and support) to help them.

By making women solely responsible for their own empowerment, the culture of confidence masks the true causes of inequality

People are very tied to their language and don’t like change, especially when it #challenges a #PowerStructure . In #Winnipeg , Bishop Grandin, a symbol of #colonial power, is being #replaced by #languages of the #historically #oppressed : #Cree , #Ojibwe & #Métis . While this is precisely the point behind the change, it may make those uncertain about changing power structures uncomfortable.

Winnipeg proposes new Indigenous street names, but what's behind claims they're too hard to pronounce?

Some have claimed the proposed new Indigenous names for Winnipeg streets are too difficult to pronounce. But what does it mean when we say a word is hard to pronounce?
