Just rewatched a short David Lightbringer video on First Man religion—Old Gods, weirwoods, Garth Greenhand, green men. Mythic, eerie, beautiful stuff.

It's only a 30 minutes long but reminded me why I fell in love with the deep magic of Westeros in the first place.

Yesterday I recorded a brief talk about the significance of the Irminsul — a sacred pillar central to their spiritual and civil life — to the ancient Germanic people. A little later, I went for a walk in the neighbouring woods and suddenly chanced upon a completely vertical tree trunk, several metres high, bare of any branches or foliage and reminiscent of just such a sacred pillar. A quite naturally occurring phenomenon that spoke volumes to me about the continuing life of the Germanic spiritual worldview and the fact that if we are prepared, the Old Gods will give us signs of their presence in the world around us.

This #moth was positioned just right (facing downward) on the old screen door to look very face/mask like! Love this one :) I think this is probably Nadata gibbosa White Dotted Prominent.. funnily, almost none of the images I saw online caught it in quite this position..
