Wodan is the wanderer seeking wisdom, and he hung on Yggdrasil to realise his fate and the fate of all else. He is as much a part of the created order as are we, hence Ragnarök and Götterdammerung, the Twilight of the Gods.

Yesterday I recorded a talk about the Irminsul — a sacred pillar central to the life of ancient Germanic people. Later, I went for a walk in the woods and chanced upon this tree trunk, bare of branches and foliage and reminiscent of just such a sacred pillar. A profound moment!

This morning I asked Wodan for my rune for the day, to be a guidance, a blessing, a protection. I drew Perthro which I shall seek to meditate on throughout the day. My initial take is an encouragement to press on deeper into the deep mysteries and wonder of these ancient ways.
