Tonight I am both proud and nervous. Tomorrow I am leading our clinical governance meeting, I have imposter syndrome and I’m worried about embarrassing myself - this is why I am nervous. However, the vast majority of the presentations come from our trainees who have worked so hard the last 6 months doing various projects. Learning points from the UK Maternal Cardiology Society Meeting today
1. Fetal doses of radiation are much smaller than you think CT Chest 0.3mGy (limit 50mGy)
2. Maternal Cardiac disease affects 1% of pregnancies. It is under recognised & under investigated
3. If radiation based imaging is required for a diagnosis then it is appropriate. Correct diagnosis = correct treatment! Remember to explain why to the mother!
4. Severe Pain - Think Aorta!
