Reason #147 to switch to Linux. Bought a new (to me) PC, a mini desktop Lenovo M920S and simply swapped the hard drives from my old PC and bingo, it worked straight away. No licensing issues, nothing. OK had to change the WIFI configuration as the new machine had a different card but everything else is exactly the same as is working flawlessly. For those of you keeping track, I run Linux Mint but I suspect this would have been the case with many Linux distributions. #linux #nomorewindows #computerfreedom

@verge ...too late! I had it with the ads, pop-ups, limitations, forced updates and restarts, myriads of apps 'phoning home' and bogging down a pc with crap! Since switching my #acer pc to #debian and #kde #plasma , my only regret is not doing it earlier! #nomorewindows

@arstechnica ...the typical 'little Windows update icon' on the task bar used to, once you hovered over it with your mouse, let you know whether it was Windows 10 regular updates or actually the Windows 11 offering. This week when it appeared and hovered over it showed only the 'uodates available' message and it was only when I clicked on it that I found out it was the 11 offer... done with my files bkp; next will be a #debian12 retrofit! #nomorewindows
