Ein Hoch führt bis Anfang Mai warme Luftmassen nach Deutschland, was die Temperaturen in den frühsommerlichen bis sommerlichen Bereich ansteigen lässt. Jedoch weicht das Hoch nach Westen aus und sorgt so für eine gestörte Zirkulation, was die Wetterentwicklung über Deutschland vollständig auf den Kopf stellen und die sommerliche Temperaturentwicklung abrupt beenden kann.
