Cappuccino Tour with the colleagues
I spent yesterday on cycling with my coworkers. We started out from Radolfzell and took the dirt road between the railway and the lake shore to Markelfingen. From there we rode to the Mindelsee, which was shrouded in fog. We crossed the fields, woods and meadows towards Freudenstein Castle and then arrived in Wallhausen just in time for the ferry. The tour was named Cappuccino tour, because once the tour guide missed the ferry and sat in a Cafe drinking a Cappuccino while waiting for the ferry to return. On the other lake side we continued on for a short bit before we made a first stop for a Cappucino (since we didn't miss the ferry). After this break we continued on to the Rebmanshof, which is directly at the lake shore right below the iconic pilgrimage church Birnau, for lunch.
With our bellies full, we cycled on to Meersburg to take the ferry back across the lake to Staad. We went past the Ruppaner brewery and the Entrance to the flower island Mainau and from there straight uphill to the beer garden Sanct Katherina for refreshments. Then on the final leg of the tour we rode past Convent Hegne along the lake shore back to Radolfzell.
To complete the 65km tour it took us almost 7h, as socialising was the main focus of this event.

Rhine Falls visit
From Reichenau Island I rode the cycling path to Constance where I crossed the Lake Rhine on the bicycle bridge (1st pic). From there I crossed into Switzerland and followed the river. There was a brief rain shower at around Mammern, but after that the sun came out.
Behind Stein am Rhein I turned a corner and found the cutest wooden houses adorned with flowers. It was like I passed through a portal and skipped a couple of centuries into the past.
In Diessenhofen I crossed the river on a covered wooden bridge and then followed a gravel path all the way to Schaffhausen to see the Rhine Falls. Thanks to the rainfall lately the water levels of the river Rhine recovered and so the waterfall was quite the spectacle again.
I sat down on bench and ate some Streuselkuchen and filled up my water bottles at a fountaine. Then I started my way back via Thayngen, which took me mostly through the busy city of Schaffhausen and then following along a road with heavy traffic. Luckily the cycling path veered off the road and followed the Biber creek with fields planted with corn on the left and the creek to the right. I passed through the german enclave Buch, which is completely enveloped by Switzerland and from there mostly took back road through fields and meadows with the occasional gravel road towards Radolfzell. There is this lovely bicycle road between the rail roads and the lake shore shaded by trees, which put me on the home stretch.
After 5,5h and 120km I arrived back home very hungry. The last kilometers I ate some Haribos to keep me going. That piece of cake was not enough to fuel me all the way.

Flower power
The field of flowers in front of the Church of St. George on Reichenau Island. I pass by there everyday and finally managed to take a snapshot. In person it looks much more colourful and it always lifts my heart. Such a beautiful place to live.
You can actually buy the seed mix if you want to have a similar bed of flowers at your place.

Grateful to live and work where others vacation 😀

We ride at dawn
Cycling along the causeway from Reichenau Island on my way to work. There was a heron flying overhead and it was quite a chilly morning.

I love the chill mornings ahead of a hot day, especially if I can ride my bike along the causeway and see the whispy fog left and right.

I am used to #swimming in #LakeConstance and bit in the Seerhein (not that much current).

Since I am pretty fearful in #openwater I have to take tiny steps to get me swimming in the #Rhein here at the new place...
