Researchers at the Goeldi Museum, Brazil's second oldest museum and the first scientific institution in the Amazon, discovered 710 new species of plants, animals and fossils over the past two decades. And yet by the end of this year, the research staff will be reduced by nearly 60% over what it was ten years ago, due to retirements, deaths and no new hires since 2012.

Saving the Amazon is also about valorizing science and scientists.
