Home after a weekend in the South Sound with the grandkids. 12yo grandson left the chicken coop open last night, so we had some fun rounding up chickens for several hours. Sadly, one of their dogs killed a chicken before we knew they were out.

Very glad to be home though. Beautiful #weather today. Looks like tomorrow will be stupid hot and then we are back to the regular scheduled Junuary – something which has become more and more rare every year. I'm hoping for a lot of rain.

Well, everything is done on the utility trailer except the paint touchup. Pretty happy with how it turned out, but super annoyed the sideboard pockets were welded on wonky – meaning all my careful measurements made the sides fit, but couldn't make everything line up on one side nicely. And no way to fix it without grinding off the metal pockets and welding them back on properly.

Grump.

Still, glad to have this project behind me for now. I'll do the paint later.

I was working outside, putting new decking and sides on my utility trailer, when I started feeling like I was getting heatstroke or something. So I came inside, where I had an air conditioner running, and checked temperatures.

The outside temp was reading as 90F/32C! WTF? This is late spring in the North Cascade mountains and I keep getting surprised by how hot it gets around here nowadays.

At this point refusing to believe in #ClimateChange has to require real effort.

Home after a full day driving around doing errands down below. The dog and I are both exhausted and overheated. (It got quite warm today.)

Very happy to be home right now. Currently I am rehydrating like mad. (Earlier I gave the rest of my water to the dog; who, unlike me, cannot take off her fur coat when it gets this hot.)

We’re training alpacas for the Utah backcountry! 🏔️🦙

We are officially documenting our journey of training these amazing animals to be our hiking and camping companions. We’re currently a year into building our off-grid property in the Sanpete Valley, and while we’re still living in our campers, the ranch life is in full swing.
