After a weekend that *looked* like mid-winter at times: snow /blowing snow but really not that cold, today was mild, sunny + warmer (+/- 8C, warmer in a couple of days). I did a bit of firewood + enjoyed time outside: hearing + seeing the hawks I showed; watching + photographing warblers for the 1st time this year (pics to come) +seeing/hearing Chickadees, Nuthatches, Woodpeckers, Crows, Ravens- a Bumblebee! and a visit from the same cool fly I showed last week #countryLiving #Alberta #nature

1 There has been a pair of these hawks (I think it's just a pair, but could be wrong, not sure how large their territories are) around for the last number of years, once or twice nesting right on the acreage in the woods just behind the house. We thought they might be choosing the acreage again this year (vs further out onto the farm in the contiguous woods), but today I saw them some distance out.

Don't you just love it when the neighbourhood vandals disable your security camera so that they can do their damage without being recorded?

I think from the sounds of it, this big guy was getting frustrated as he tried to drag the camera away.

The camera survived unscathed, but I don't think the evidence from the video is admissible in court. I did get a mugshot of the culprit, which I'll put in the first comment.

Backyard evenings don’t get much sweeter than this 🍃🐾

These little mountain #pups, puppy ice cream treat, and a whole lot of love in the #Appalachian air.

Gracie and Buzz and Auggie proving that the best things in life aren’t fancy, they are simple, shared, and just a little bit messy. 💛

Out here, it’s green grass underfoot, birds singing overhead, and a cool treat on a warm day. Passed back and forth like a peace treaty between best friends.

This is the kind of moment you wish you could bottle up forever.

Country living: that feeling you get when you take the lid off the sugar bowl, because the coleslaw needs just a tiny pinch of sugar, and a bunch of ants scramble out. 🙄 (Yes, it's one of those sugar bowl lids with a slot at the side for the handle of the sugar shell.)
