It is a *glorious* late June/early July day here in the North Cascades … except it's early April. #Weather forecast is for slightly cooler tomorrow and Wednesday, then warmer again before returning to normal April weather on the weekend.

But who knows. Past three days the weather forecast is usually wildly wrong.

Very tired right now. After spending the winter in my house, which is still mid-remodel and not very comfortable (although easier to keep warm), I'm moving back into my nice fifth wheel trailer outside.

I spent the last night here and today I moved computers and UPS and desk and desk chair and the like, taking time to clean the dust out of everything since I had it disconnected. Thus why I'm tired; some of it is quite heavy and I'm doing it by myself.

#Weather very nice today.

#MountainLiving

Made a little progress on several different projects today. As usual I'm not entirely satisfied with how much got done, but the important thing is I did get stuff done.

Taking my wins where I can find them, I am…

I'm looking at a #weather forecast for Sunday and it says 75F/24C and I'm thinking, "Isn't this early April?"

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

I just had a visit from the salespeople for the Internet company who have been installing fiber here since last Fall. And, yes, they are finally lighting it up!

I even have an install date scheduled. I haven't been this excited about paying a new monthly fee in years!

We’re training alpacas for the Utah backcountry! 🏔️🦙

We are officially documenting our journey of training these amazing animals to be our hiking and camping companions. We’re currently a year into building our off-grid property in the Sanpete Valley, and while we’re still living in our campers, the ranch life is in full swing.

We just posted our first video. It's called "A Quiet Beginning" and is just a mini-intro. We'll be posting weekly content.

If your feed feels a little noisy, we invite you to step into our world. Our videos are a deep breath of unfiltered calm—no talking and no rush. Just the sounds of the "Woof Pack," the wind through the high-mountain valley, and our alpacas grazing.

Subscribe and keep an eye on us as we grow and eventually head from the pasture to the peaks:

🏡✨From bare bones, head hitting ceiling, messy, and rain soaked mudroom to my new favorite room in the #appalachianmountainbungalow.

What was once just a little covered porch with a slanted roof (that made sure your head hit it every time you went by) is now our hardworking, enclosed #Appalachian mudroom where muddy boots, a cozy entrance to welcome you, and porch patrol pups all have a place. Still simple. Still humble. Just a whole lot more lived in and loved. Warm heater in the winter and cool ceiling fan in the summer.

What is not shown is that one entire wall is all window so the Baby Sharks can lay on the doggie bed and look out the window of the cars going by... and Cali & Smoky the cats.

I adore this little space and I never expected to love a smoky blue color so much. 🐾🪵

After decades of dreaming, planning, saving, and so many weeks (ok, actually months) of #renovations than we can count… we’re finally here. Where is "here"?: The #Appalachian Mountain Bungalow in the #BlueRidgeMountains.🍂🏡✨

Our Appalachian mountain home is officially finished with the big projects, just in time for fall to paint the mountains and the hollers with plenty of colors of green, orange, red, and yellow. The fresh mountain air, golden leaves, and quiet mornings sipping tea on the front porch make every bit of the work worth it. But, if I were completely honest, these major renovations had me thinking, several times, "Why did we buy this 100 year old place?!??!"

Here’s to new chapters, slow living, and soaking in this season of peace and gratitude in the mountains. I am so incredibly thankful for every day I wake up and walk this property with the Yorkies. 🐾⛰️

HIGH ALTITUDE LIVING (8,000 ft and above - 2.450 meters) — Studio Q Photography

Living at high altitude reduces risk of dying from heart disease: Low oxygen may spur genes to create blood vessels. Summary: Researchers have found that people living at higher altitudes have a lower chance of dying from heart disease and live longer. Jeanne and I live at 8,400 feet (2.560 meters)
