I get that people scoff at the idea of disabling #linux #kernel cpu #mitigations, saying that the performance impact isn't big enough to bother, but on some architectures, like AMD Zen1, setting `mitigations=off` in the kernel command line is literally a night and day difference. It's like I have a whole new machine once I enabled it on my thinkpad C13.

I have known about qanats and how they work for many years but some of the other #heat #mitigations discussed were new to me.

I wa surprised they didn't include covered pedestrian arcades but perhaps that is commonplace there already regardless? 🤔 (I don't know … just musing.)

My friend brought the phone over on the weekend to brainstorm ideas. They're very good at solving problems but know that I also frequently alter or modify things to make them work better for my own needs.

Watching the re-enactment of the elder's actions when attempting to make a call was particularly fascinating AND informative.

A glimpse of the consequences of #Alberta's current interference with #healthcare:

A friend's elder is in an #Edmonton hospital now with a cascade of serious issues. Today a feeding tube was finally able to be placed, but the ward, built for fewer beds and currently crammed with extras, has NO POWER SOURCE AVAILABLE for this medical equipment.

Plus they've now added an active #covid patient to this jammed-full ward. Zero #mitigations in place.
