For some reason #ffmpeg is not playing nice with #minio and ends the processing prematurely. I give up, the workaround will be download the file to a temporary directory and then pass it to ffmpeg.

Nice, I finally powered back on the NAS, it everything came back up

Longhorn backups, CloudNativePG backups, MinIO, OpenmediaVault, Wireguard

The full stack came back without a hiccup

(Small sike on me tho', I had to SSH into the machine to restart the containers and wireguard because I had forgotten to enable them at boot...)

Ach Du Mist... Die #minio Community Edition haben die ja ganz schön zusammen gestaucht.

Kein echtes Admin-Interface... nur noch mit mc - und das nervt echt sehr.

Seit dem Drama um #MinIO hatte ich eigentlich große Hoffnung in #OpenMaxIO. Allerdings scheint der Fork tot zu sein. Es gibt keine Rückmeldung, Commits etc... Schade drum.

Allerdings gibt es nun endlich #RustFS zum Testen. S3 kompatibel und unterstützt schon viele Funktionen, leider noch kein OIDC, aber immerhin wird aktiv dran entwickelt.

Läuft bei mir neben MinIO und soll es auf lange Sicht ablösen.

Today is one of those days where I should have stopped what I was trying to do and do something else.

It started with a simple thing. Get #joplin on #ios to connect to an S3 (compatible) bucket or WebDav. I would have loved rsync or sftp as an option.

3 hours later and I am giving up.

First the #minio implementation on #omv is not working properly - webdav even throws a guru meditation error.

Minio on #proxmox works fine. But the ios joplin app crashes after saying "sync target upgrade".

@psyhackological @Tubsta I conducted some experimental tests. I set up Garage and SeaweedFS on the same machine - with rotating disks - the same one on which Minio runs. I then used rclone to copy files from Minio (which was in production) to Garage and SeaweedFS. I repeated the test several times.
With Garage, after a few GB, the process slows down, the CPU load increases (and by a lot), and the I/O wait becomes high. After about 80GB, I have to stop; the load becomes extremely high, and the latencies are monstrous.
With SeaweedFS, the load remains constant, and the performance is the same. The I/O wait remains minimal.
I've attached a graph of the machine's CPU load. On the left is when I performed the rclone to Garage. On the right, to SeaweedFS. Note that the bulk of the load in the second part is caused by Minio's reads.

I've switched the BSD Cafe Mastodon media over to SeaweedFS.
Posts from the last few hours might not show media, as I'm doing the final 'rclone' migration from MinIO and the ETA is around 3 hours.
