And now moving onto looking at SeaweedFS instead of Ceph to compare. Both come with S3 compatibility, but SeaweedFS seems simpler to operate and reason about so far. However, there's some planning to do in order to support multiple buckets. It has the added benefit of being written in Go instead of C/C++ so if I real need to diagnose something in the code I could do that in Go much easier.

@kevin @jwildeboer what I don't like on #minio (and #rustfs), it is so hard to expand capacity compared to #garagehq or #seaweedfs

@chad my self-hosted #mastodon instance use our #selfhosting #objectstorage: #seaweedfs. It stores around 200GB with 15 days media cache retention.

Most of those are remote media cache.

@aku oh untuk mastodon ini pakai s3 saya sendiri, tapi bukan #minio, pakainya #seaweedfs.

Minio malas karena boros resource dan kalo mau nambahin skalabilitas ribet, harus bikin cluster storage baru. Dan lagi minio jg mulai bikin marah dan ditinggal kalangan #foss.

Kalo mau coba, selain seaweedfs, ada yang sederhana dan gampang om buat impelmentasi #s3, coba cek #garagehq.

PR nih, besok harus secepatnya tambah kapasitas volume #seaweedfs gara-gara ternyata #mastodon galak juga simpan cache di #s3.

Untung juga pakainya seaweedfs, gampang expand gak kayak #minio yang kalau mau expand harus bikin cluster baru.
