L'altoatesino batte Carlos Alcaraz, con il punteggio di 7-6 (5) 6-3, in due ore e 15 minuti di gioco, nell'ultimo atto del torneo andato in scena sulla terra rossa del Principato di Monaco e conquista il 27esimo titolo della sua carriera. Ottavo titolo 1000 per l'azzurro – il quarto consecutivo dopo Parigi indoor, Indian Wells e Miami – che si prende anche, nuovamente, la vetta della classifica Atp. Dopo l'eliminazione in semifinale all'Australian Open e il ko a sorpresa contro Mensik a Doha, il 24enne di San Candido riesce nell'impresa di vincere Indian Wells, Miami e Montecarlo nella stessa stagione. L'unico a riuscirci dal 1990 è stato Novak Djokovic nel 2015.
