You know you're getting old when the digital camera you bought brand new might now be considered vintage.

I've given my old Canon EOS 400D over to my daughter so she can start learning the fundamentals of photography: aperture, shutter speed, ISO… all the things smartphones quietly take care of for you.

I thought we'd start with something instantly rewarding: long exposures and light trails.

These are a few shots I took on my iPhone (balanced on a wobbly mini tripod). Ula's photographs with the DSLR and a proper tripod are considerably better.

For #silentsunday a night view of Rio Preguiças close to Barreirinhas in the state of Maranhão in Brazil.
The long exposure makes the stars and the reflection of the moonlight on the surface of the river visible and creates a nice silhouette of the trees on the other side of the river.
