Slowly getting closer on this one. The yellow streetlights make it hard to see what is going on; the buildings are actually pink and blue and orange and white, but the yellow light erases all of that almost. Good to go back and see it in both daylight and at night.

Schiffchenmond mit Erdschein
Am Abend des 20. März 2026, dem Vorabend des Frühlingsanfangs, zeigte sich eine etwa zwei Tage alte Mondsichel über der Stadt Thun im Berner Oberland. Die steil stehende Frühlingsekliptik bewirkt, dass die Sichel nahezu horizontal liegt – eine für den März charakteristische Erscheinung in mittleren nördlichen Breiten. Deutlich sichtbar ist der Erdschein: von der Erde reflektiertes Sonnenlicht, das die Nachtseite des Mondes in einem schwachen, aschgrauen Glanz erscheinen lässt. Die orange-goldene Färbung der Sichel entsteht durch Rayleigh-Streuung in der Erdatmosphäre.
