Our derby league finished out the regular season last night with tied standings: 2 wins for every home team.

I love that I never, ever know who's going to win when I get ready to announce a Kansas City Roller Warriors bout.

I don't get cold easily. It's gotten notably worse on HRT but I still wear one layer less on average than people I pass on the street. If not more than one.

So bicycling was not a problem, except my hands. Given that they're exposed and nearly immobile, it did get unpleasant on longer rides at night (like when returning from #rollerderby practice).

And I've always hated gloves. I'm talking, since I was a little child. Likely due to being #actuallyautistic but who knows. Point is, it was a sensory issue.

And wow. Fingerless gloves are a game changer.

I bought a cheap pair at Decathlon a few days back that are meant for weightlifting and the like, but they work nice as bicycle gloves. Being slightly padded means I don't have to constantly shift my grip lest my palms get ouchy.

And it's so much warmer and nicer even when the temperature is approaching freezing.

Plus they kind of look and feel neat to wear.

So a hint for anyone else who gets cold hands but has hated gloves: try this kind of fingerless ones for sports. Maybe they'll work for ya too.

EDIT: oh, and I have like huge hand dysphoria and think they look like a man's hands. A lot of that dysphoria is alleviated by these gloves. My hands still look big but not man big, more like butch girl big. So that's another big plus.

Koetan seuratoiminnassa edistää sitä, että meidän seuramme olisi mahdollisimman inklusiivinen ja tukisi monenlaisia urheilijoita. Meillä on käytössä unisex-pukkari, jotta ei tarvitsisi miettiä, ketkä menevät miesten ja ketkä naisten pukuhuoneeseen ja keille ei jää mitään. Ja homma pelittää varsin hyvin.
