One of the images where the particular colour tint given to the highlights of the pink uniforms revealed a huge difference. Pink toned, it was just more pink, but shifted over to blue, and it leapt up as a layer of almost white overlay.

Some of the best pics from this series happen when a face resolves within the blur of motion. That's usually a result of one of two circumstances; a serendipitous match of tracking speed between the movement of the camera, and the passing of the competitor, or a flashgun creating a frozen instant within the longer exposure.

A creative choice in this reworked series, as compared to the original versions published in 2014, was to use vignetting to pull and push the image forwards and backwards. That's especially pronounced in images like this, where there's a strong opposition between full and empty on each side of the photo.

Camera's relatively still at the peak of a corner, and all the movement is in the competitors. A third factor in these images, is another photographer running big strobes, so there's light-painted frozen moments in my long exposures.

Competitors passing by me, slightly to my right. They're accelerating on the straight, the camera is tracking them at its fastest, and the background at the top has deep blues and greens where the mezzanine stadium seating rises up to the ceiling void.

Less blur, from the shot further to the left. Effectively shooting through a corner, the competitors' perpendicular speed, relative to the camera's tracking arc, is much lower. A small black-level lightening popped a layer of white highlight on the pink uniforms all across the image, almost like over-drawing in white chalk.

So many axes of movement at once in this shot; camera panning left-to-right, skaters are pulling to their left coming out of a corner, one of the green-themed D'Viants is trying to block out to their right to stop the pink-clad BSK-er. Slight lift in the black levels super-popped the detail in the middle figure's patterned tights.
