Childhood left-behind experiences in China increase the odds of premarital cohabitation in adulthood. The effects vary by timing, and further analyses show heterogeneity by parental migration type and gender. #LifeCourse #LeftBehindChildren #Cohabitation https://www.demographic-research.org/articles/volume/53/30/

Research Handbook on Partnering across the Life Course

‘This Research Handbook on Partnering across the Life Course provides an extraordinarily comprehensive review of current theory and research on partner relationships. Because contemporary data and research on partner relationships is dominated by studies from western wealthy societies, it is especially laudable that the book contains reviews of what we do know about intimate partnerships in other parts of the world.’ – Elizabeth Thomson, University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA and Stockholm University, Sweden

In #ResearchPolicy the authors explore how different forms of mobility – academic, institutional, geographic, and disciplinary – shape scientific recognition among biology professors in 🇨🇭:

It’s remarkably simple: in Swiss science, the highest recognition often goes to foreigners.

Just like in Ukrainian universities – where the government spares no expense to recruit promising Brazilians!

Oh, wait… no, that’s football.

Poverty CAN harm development, but your OP implies it WILL, which will be used as an excuse to write off kids who grow up poor. Is it wrong that kids grow up in poverty? It 100% is. Should we do something about it? We should. But the brains of poor kids can also be ok.
