actually this #kvantum theme is quite nice to mimik adwaita for qt apps... a bit outdated, but maybe a good base to fork...

Flatpak & GNU Stow problems (solved)
Could someone tell me how to let #Flatpak follow symlinks? I have #dotfiles managed by #stow and Flatpak apps can't see the #Kvantum config.
So, I've got symlinks in xdg-config and I'd like for Flatpak to follow them to the folder where the configurations actually reside in (~/.config/home-dir). Search results have been unhelpful.
For example, if I do ls in ~/.config/Kvantum it shows this: kvantum.kvconfig -> ../../.config/home-dir/.config/Kvantum/kvantum.kvconfig
And even if I give Flatpak apps access to xdg-config/home-dir:ro and xdg-config/Kvantum:ro they won't use the config.
SOLUTION: I switched to Tuckr for dotfiles management, which let me symlink the whole Kvantum directory instead of the individual files. This somehow allowed Flatpak to access the themes.
The more I use #debian #trixie, the more I miss #debian #bookworm
#bookworm was more stable as there are some known bugs in various #xfce components, leading to segfaults in things like #thunar
But also the fact that the way to keep #qt and #gtk apps looking similar worked so much better in #bookworm
The same code compiled on #trixie leads to issues with libraries or so files, and some applications just ignore settings via the likes of #qt5ct or #qt6ct
I accept that I run a slightly more complex setup than a default install, as I've a few applications that are now no longer present in #trixie, plus some that were not in #bookworm either.
But in any case, it just feels that the mixed #qt5 and #qt6 setup, plus changes to styles and #kvantum, leads to more problems in the latest stable release than in the previous stable release.
Of course things move on, but it's frustrating.
For now, docker containers & #distrobox for 4 key apps allows them to run and be correctly themed.
I'm getting a little frustrated with #debian 13 #trixie
It is not the fault of the #debian team, but there are a few packages I used in #bookworm that are not in #trixie
Additionally, the transition from #qt5 to #qt6 makes it slightly more challenging to maintain consistent settings between #qt and #gtk apps, as some package changes have occurred.
I get that #qt5ct and #qt6ct are a bit of a fudge, but they sort of worked okay with the appropriate style plugins installed.
However, the world has moved on, and some of these no longer work or are available in #trixie, plus there's more stuff moving to using #kvantum as the underlying manager for this sort of stuff.
I am grateful that #debian exists and does so much for #foss in general. It's just a little frustrating that the change from #bookworm to #trixie, at least using #xfce, is a little more challenging than perhaps I would like.
I'm having to resort to #distrobox for a couple of apps via #docker images, at least for now.
I finished my switch back to #debian #bookworm
I did still have some new issues that I didn't from when I'd originally installed #bookworm at release 12.1, and it seems since then some updates create a few niggles with certain self-compiles.
Resolved the last of my libqt5widget trackback errors by setting #qt5ct back to gtk2 rather than #kvantum. For whatever reason, that combination caused applications like #avidemux to fail to run. I had issues compiling that as well, but overcame them by fixing a typo in one of the cmake files.
Anyway, back to a stable and working environment.
Going to spend time in a virt-manager VM to test out #trixie as a clean install with #kde as the DE. I think having KDE as the base DE and then setting #gtk theme support is the better way around, and more of the apps I now run are Qt-based nowadays, and that seems to be a trend that is growing.
@osnews what we have lost over the time... We need more themes for modern systems! For example #Kvantum (Theme Engine for #kdeplasma ) ffw!
Nevertheless; great website at https://macthemes.garden/ :) way better then surfing on web.archive.org for the old listing on the now defunct kaleidoscope website
