Update: Die Pinguine haben gewonnen! Ich hab den Laptop mit Linux drauf in der Schule hergezeigt, und er ist gut angekommen. Beschluss: Ja, das machen wir so! 💚

Ich hatte ein Debian stable (trixie) mit KDE aufgesetzt, mir passend erscheinende Metapakete aus dem Edu-Projekt installiert, und dann noch ein bisschen aufgeräumt und Shortcuts angelegt. Das hat mehr als gereicht.

Wie erwartet, müssen eigentlich nur der Browser und LibreOffice funktionieren.

We have published a blog post about the completion of /usr-move transition in Debian.

It covers why it was needed after /usr-merge transition and the work done to resolve the issues during the #trixie release cycle.

Debian's /usr-move transition has been completed

By now, the /usr-merge is an old transition. Effectively, it turns top-level directories such as /bin into symbolic links pointing below /usr. That way the entire operating system can be contained below the /usr hierarchy enabling e.g. image based update mechanisms. It was first supported in Debian 9, which is no longer in active use at this point (except for users of Freexian’s ELTS offer). When it became mandatory in Debian 12, it wasn’t really done though, because Debian’s package manager was not prepared to handle file system objects being referred to via two different paths.

Updated: Solved, "systemd-cryptsetup" was missing.

Recently I've set up a #Proxmox server. I want to mount an encrypted luks volume at startup. I can do it using cryptsetup manually, but it doesn't work using the crypttab file.

I had to apt install cryptsetup however, before I could do it manually. I recon I still miss some package and so crypttab isn't read at all at startup.

Does anybody have an idea what I need to do? Would be much appreciated!

@jakob Naja, jeder #provider offeriert dir heute natürlich auch noch immer ein #oldstable für deinen #vps, nicht ohne Grund, denn, wie wir wissen, sind die ja auch noch immer und darüber hinaus noch länger stable. #debian eben.

Von #bullseye zu #bookworm war es für #yunohost ein großer, verständlicher Weise auch ein beschwerlicher Schritt.

Aber das haben die geschafft. Und so werden die auch den Übergang zu #trixie bewältigen.

Wir nutzen es für den Freundeskreis und die Mitglieder im #Verein und deren Freunde.

Du kannst natürlich auch je "eine VM für einen Dienst" aufsetzen.

Dann läge mir vielleicht ein #container in #proxmox näher.

Just remembered that someone asked my how the new style (Deb822) .sources file for Pxvirt looks like

first get the signing key

curl -L https://mirrors.lierfang.com/pxcloud/lierfang.gpg -o /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/lierfang.gpg

Then create /etc/apt/sources.list/pxvirt.sources with the following content:

Types: deb
Architectures: arm64
URIs: https://mirrors.lierfang.com/pxcloud/pxvirt/
Suites: trixie
Components: main
Signed-By: /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/lierfang.gpg
