Anyway, while the source code is mostly fine (when patched) I've found a number of issues in the build files (qt6), like NO .pro file for a start. So I created my own, which somehow or other disrespects LIBS += -lasound so I've been patching the Makefile 🤮 after qmake to get a binary, as obviously the linker stage is failing. All the AI slop fed by search engines is NFG so I'd like to know the proper way to do it. #qmake #qt6 #slackware

Ahhhh! #Qt6 broke #fonts in some apps again!

And I finally found out why and how to fix it. In the Archwiki, of course. Every app is supposed to respect your lovingly crafted and finetuned fontconfig, but the Qt folks use your ~/.Xresources (if on x11) instead. So just put Xft.hinting and Xft.antialias and whatever in there.

Finally my user environment has perfect fonts.

Played around a bit with Qt6.11.1 on Haiku, last attempt with 6.11.0 didn't work out too well, font issue was keeping me from running it daily.
With 6.11.1 that issue seems fixed and look and feel is on par with our current 6.10.3 release, but while sound and video are working fine (checked with Haruna), things like Stellarium, Kasts and a few others are not ... so for the moment back to Qt 6.10.3.

I'm disappointed, as a (primarily KDE Plasma) user, that #BudgieDesktop has decided to go with #qt6 over #EFL. What could they bring that #KDEplasma and #LXQt don't already?

There's also: Deepin, UKUI, SailfishOS, Lumina (I liked this one), Trinity DE (used to like it!), others possibly.

#EnlightenmentDE & #MokshaDE are great and they're the only ones -- nearly identical -- that are built upon EFL. It would've been really cool to see/use something quite a bit different built using those famously light foundations. It would add more diversity and perhaps the two smaller projects could provide more for one another in the long run.

Krellix now has a macOS port, and it is running surprisingly well so far.
Most plugins are already working without modification, though a few will still need to be ported over properly for full compatibility. Let me know of any issues. Tested on Darwin 21.6.0
