I’ve noticed that many #KDE apps allows to hide all UI elements, even a menu bar. Which plays very nice with my distraction-free environment based on #niri. In result I’m slowly migrating to use more and more KDE apps. But Dolphin (the KDE’s file manager) pulls too much dependencies, so I use #Thunar, and Konsole is not my preferred terminal app, I’m using the excellent #FootTerminal (https://codeberg.org/dnkl/foot). I’m using both Dolphin and Konsole on my laptop with Plasma, though.

When opening a folder (like Downloads) from within #Tor #browser, the file manager suddenly has a different (serif) font. 😲

So you know you're in the browser's sandbox environment. 🤓

On #xfce4 this affects /all/ applications started from within that sandboxed #Thunar, btw.

I am using #Thunar as my #filemanager and #Ghostty as my #terminal. One thing that bugs me is that clicking "open terminal here" in Thunar opens Ghostty in the default working directory instead. I just fixed this today by changing the command to `TERM_PROGRAM=dumb exo-open --working-directory %f --launch TerminalEmulator`, i.e., adding an environment variable `TERM_PROGRAM`. The value does not matter, but it has to have some value for exo-open to work. No idea why.

From Thunar to PCManFM

I run EndeavourOS on my main workstation. I recently switched from XFCE to Cinnamon due to having flickering/performance issues with XFCE after a Nvidia update. I was still using XFCE's Thunar as my file manager. I ran into an issue with the Thunar file manager on Linux. After failing to find a quick fix, I decided to just replace Thunar with PCManFM.

Was ich sehr interessant finde, #Caja kann keine Dateien auf meiner USB-Festplatte löschen, #Thunar schon. Awz kann ich anzeigen, epub nicht. Ist halt so. In Moment habe ich auch nicht die Zeit alles zu erforschen. Immerhin geht es und über Umwege macht es, was es soll. Auf diese Weise habe ich auch die meisten Tools gefunden. Schließlich bringt Kritik und Unzufriedenheit nichts, wenn daraus keine Alternative Lösung folgt. Schließlich bedeutet Leben, ja Wandlung und die #Linux Welt bietet da sehr viele Möglichkeiten

Was ich toll finde, wenn sich ein Problem nach dem anderen Klärt. Ich liebe ja #Thunar, es ist mein Lieblings-Dateimanager. Aber er hat Probleme seit einigen Versionen EPUB als Thumb anzuzeigen. Obwohl ich alles eingebunden habe, was es braucht. Komischerweise kann PCman, wie #Caja es anzeigen. Wegen der besseren #Baumansicht nutze ich jetzt Caja. Was ich allerdings noch hinbekommen möchte, wie ich unter #XFCE eine grafische Benutzerverwaltung hinbekommen, manche Distros schaffen es schließlich auch. Allerdings möchte ich nicht zu viel Gnome Ballast in mein System bringen

Bon, c’est quoi, la MAJ sur #ArchLinux qui a cassé #Thunar (le gestionnaire de fichiers de #XFCE) ???

Maintenant, quand j’affiche les fichiers cachés, je peux plus les masquer à nouveau sans que ça le fasse crasher (et le masquage n’est pas pris en compte) ! Je dois passer par l‘Éditeur de paramètres pour changer le réglage.

C’est arrivé cette semaine, puisque lundi dernier, ça le faisait pas.

Franchement, ces trucs qui se mettent soudainement à casser alors qu’on n’a rien fait de particulier, c’est gonflaaaannnt… 😤
