Towards interplanetary QUIC traffic

Have you ever asked yourself which protocols get used when downloading pictures from the Perseverance Mars rover to Earth? I hadn’t thought about that either, until I came across an intriguing message on the internet, back in April 2024: I’m looking for someone knowledgeable of quic/quinn to help us out for our deep space IP project. Would be of part-time consulting. Please dm me if interested. The message itself is quite short and somewhat jargon-y, so it took me a few readings to fully realize what the project was about:

suuuuper interesting talk from ISOC Interplanetary Chapter right now on relativistic considerations for interplanetary networks and distributed computing (I didn't receive notice in my email until half an hour after the talk began, but it should be available for replay later) https://isoc.live/19737 #space #IPNSIGacademy #IPNSIG #interplanetary
A reminder that #NASA and #JPL (along with #ESA and many other international partners) have already built our first #Interplanetary #Infrastructure. It’s been used to map the #Moon and #Mars, study the #Sun and send missions throughout the #SolarSystem , sample #asteroids, study #Comets and explore the #Universe. That word infrastructure is important. We don’t build highways and then abandon them. We maintain and improve them. So lets do that
