it felt like compiling ports was very slow on this hardware… turns out 'cc -v' on ppc64le takes ~0.32 seconds to execute, of which ~0.22s is system.

i wonder if this is related to the llvm dynamic linking issue that was being discussed on stable@? but on amd64, 'cc -v’ takes only ~0.025s, so the problem seems to be ppc-specific.

unfortunately we don't seem to support lldb on ppc64le, which makes this difficult to investigate. so fixing that might be the most useful thing to start with...
