@getimiskon That being said there's nothing wrong using #GIMP and I'd rather use that than to ever give #Adobe or #AVID money.

  • Not to mention #piracy isn't an option in any #commercial setup when courts already decided that using pirated Software will result in the copyrights being de-jure transfered to the Software Licensor in lieu of licensing payments...

So yeah, I do want to see #Linux ports of #Affinity's Suite and #Blackmagicdesign to step up their Support of #DavinchiResolve for Linux outside of #CentOS & #RHEL Workstation and at least on the #paid version get #FeatureParity to the #macOS & #Windows version in terms of #Codecs (or at least implement support for those not subject to #licensing like #AV1, #VP9 / #WebM & #Opus, #Vorbis & #Speex.

#Resolve

@arrjay what pisses me off about every single distro for the #RaspberryPi is that none of them have #FeatureParity to their #Desktop parts for no good reason.

  • And I mean fundamentals like a proper #Installer with #LUKS / #dmcrypt support for the / filesystem to facilitate FDE!

Something we had on @ubuntu / #Ubuntu 7.04 & @opensuse / #OpenSUSE 10.2 from day 1!

  • IDK but to me that sounds like a steep feature regression!

Cool. Can we get "Gallery view 3x3 and 7x7" for android / ios / web? would be nice to go beyond the 2x2 gallery grid when sharing photos in microsoft teams on android / iOS / web. thank you.

Your new software shouldn't do everything your old software does.

“The new X must do exactly what the old X does.”
-- Your Product Manager

Over the past 2 decades, I've been assigned projects like this. Have you ever seen it? I call it requirements laziness. It's trying to offload product definition onto developers.

Ian Cartwright and Rob Horn have a similar concept: feature parity.

🧵👇#softwareengineering #whyrewrite #featureparity #requirementlaziness

I am enjoying podcasts via RSS readers, but note that #emacs #elfeed does not have #FeatureParity with others but has #FeatureSuperiority . A couple notes:

- easy OPML import/export. Other good readers have this, but not all of them.
- Works without an account in the cloud -- just the RSS and my device.
- Multiple tags per entry. I have not found this on ANY other reader, where ultimately tags = directories. This is silly.
- Super-easy history and search. You would think this would be a given in this day and age, but I do not see it in other readers. For example, trying to find "spooky" in the title of a recently heard podcast was not possible outside elfeed. Further, "Which ones did I listen to this morning?" is hard, also not easy in elfeed. But at least I can search for keywords there.

I use feeder on android, which at least checks the first two boxes about good OPML support and being subscriptionless. Of course, going to my elfeed is a joy, but not when I am on the move and can't pull out my laptop.

@chrismessina I think @mozilla should've first focussed on making #FeatureParity between @thunderbird / #Thunderbird and #K9mail aka. to be renamed #ThunderbirdMobile...

Like working #Calendar, #Contacts and #E2EE with #OpenPGP aka. #PGP/MIME...
