Eastern Ontarians worried as Canada Post considers cutting door-to-door delivery
Canada Post's plan to eliminate its regular door-to-door delivery service has some eastern Ontario residents concerned that it could make it harder for them to access their mail.

Is anyone able to get IMAP push to work for Thunderbird for Android? I've enabled push for the folder but new emails never show up when received. I have to pull to refresh for it to show up. Currently using v17.

I'm also currently using Aquamail and it works rock solid on my phone and sync is perfect. I would love to leave it for TB but with every new version I can't get IMAP push to work.

Thanks!

Idea for experiment: mail to fediverse?

@selfhosted

My ambition: having people writing to "username @ domain dot ext" and mail content goes into public, or private, on fediverse "handle @ domain . ext".

Someone already did it? Pros and cons? Disadvantages are more than benefits?

I heard about a trick called "mail2mastodon" but before doing deeper research I first wanted to understand how the effort is, and if it's worth.

Is it just me or do you also feel that LLMs are making many really old and semi-reliable services unusable in ways you didn't anticipate?  Right now I'm looking at my e-mail inbox, which is full of clearly LLM written spam directed at me based on my official job description. And it's not only my work e-mail - more and more often they're guessing e-mails on my others, non-work related domains, sending me a lot of slop about cybersecurity products and services I don't want nor need. For the first time in twenty years, I literally have to block whole domains of legit businesses, because their "agents" are totally out of control and are spamming me with offers, requests for consultations etc.

I'll have to take a day or two to just rebuild the whole structure of mail addresses I use, change a lot of online accounts to new naming schemes and rebuild filters ....

It all feels like a weird attrition warfare.

Regarding my question about mail failover, I decided for now that receiving mail (ie, making sure no mail is getting lost) is more important than sending mail (i can always use another external smtp for that) so I've configured a small postfix setup on my hetzner node and configured a secondary MX record.

Keep it simple, stupid ;) #selfhost #mail

Me: How long to mail this package from <X> to <Y>?

Canada Post: I can help you with that! Let's see ... 3 days.

Me: 3 days? That's not too bad, even if I could drive there in 16 hours. Maybe 14 if I pushed it.

Canada Post: Oh, no, no need to drive! We can definitely deliver it in 4-5 days.

Me: 4-5 days? What happened to 3?

Canada Post: Don't worry about it! Once you give us the package, the recipient will have it inside of 7 days.

Me: What's going on here?

Canada Post: Two weeks, tops.

Canada Post is planning to end home delivery. Here's how community mailboxes will work
If your dog goes crazy every time the mail delivery person shows up at your door, you may be relieved to know that it soon may no longer be a problem. But beyond that, a lot of people are uncertain what the pending demise of door-to-door mail delivery means for them.
