Where's the science on "blue light exposure?" I'm thinking that since the claims on eyeglasses are suspiciously vague, that it's all just a way to up-sell.

What's more, is that I happen to be a fan of blue light, and don't want the colors I see all day distorted. If I want less "blue light exposure" from screens, then I can tune the screen.

If your blue-blocking glasses don't change how things look in the visible spectrum, then which spectrum of light are you blocking?

Good news: We (me and my partner) will get new glasses covered by KELA so my migraines should reduce a bit more. (: Shame we can't afford the color-shade things on them to reduce how flashing lights and bright conditions screw with eyeballs, but at least seeing better will be excellent.

Neurologist also couldn't write a statement to get them, which is an accessability fail in my opinion.

We’re all paying too much for our #glasses - it’s a total scam. Your $400 designer glasses and lens cost between $8-$15 to make. Thanks to Reddit u/sappk for the following deep dive: “…EssilorLuxottica owns a lot of brands. But laid out together the scope is genuinely staggering. They own Ray-Ban, Oakley, Persol, Oliver Peoples, Costa Del Mar. They manufacture for Prada, Chanel, Versace, Armani, Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Ralph Lauren, Tiffany, Michael Kors, Coach, Valentino, Tory Burch. Your "Prada glasses" were made in the same Luxottica factory as everything else with a licensing sticker on the temple. They own LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut (3,100+ stores), Pearle Vision, Target Optical, Glasses.com, EyeBuyDirect. €27 billion annual revenue. 18,000+ stores. 150 countries.” #monopoly #eyeglasses #capitalism
Philly courts will ban all smart eyeglasses starting next week

The First Judicial District of Pennsylvania said the rule is designed to protect witnesses and jurors from intimidation.

Question for the Fediverse:
I'm in need of new prescription eyeglasses.
For the last few decades I've been wearing verifocal lenses, which are costly.
My vision issues are slight myopia and significant astigmatism.
My question: To save money, could it be practical to get two pairs, I.e., one pair for distance, and a second pair for reading?
The assumption I'm making is that I could have both acceptable vision and also save money this way.
I suspect that I'm being impractal rather than practical, but I'd love to have that confirmed or refuted by someone who is knowledgeable.
Thank YOU.
