What's that you say? I don't need another project?
You're not wrong. And also, that's not stopping me.
I wasn't even sure you could boot a PSP without a battery before now, but definitely works.
Slightly surprised by the outcome. The bashed-in PSP-2001 boots fine and everything seems to work. The mostly-fine PSP-3001 has a cracked LCD and you can't tell if it's booting.

"There's your problem, right there."

So there’s this RCA audio receiver with the top opened and all the parts exposed in my lap right now. It’s model RT2911, and I think the volume potentiometer is going on it.
It’ll play fine for a few seconds, then get really quiet all of the sudden. But when you wiggle the volume nob it gets better.
Makes it really hard to listen to anything.
Anybody know where to look for almost 20 year old audio parts?
Cause I think I can replace it but it doesn’t exist on the internet anymore, it seems.
C64 EXTREME Repair - A Wooden Commodore with Many Broken Chips - Part 2

Learning new stuff - programming ITE EC chip over the keyboard connector with #SVOD4 without needing to desolder the chip.
One thing I can tell you is you better use a microscope to make sure you’re picking the right ribbon cable and that you align it well while plugging.
Quite a fiddly thing to deal with but eventually I made it work.

Hello Fediverse friends.
This one is a bit embarrassing for me but I post my mistales as well as my wins.
A viewer sent me a Sega Game Gear as a parts-only donor. It had already been recapped, but it still wouldn’t power on.
Part 1 is teardown + diagnosis. I clean up old electrolyte, inspect the previous work, and start tracking the real fault. No miracle fix yet, but we do find a solid lead for Part 2? Maybe?

Thanks to @iFixit who very kindly sent me some new tools for the cabin.

Retooting is always appreciated (but never expected) :)
