I was recently reminded of a 30-year old architecture project (by architects who went on to win a Pritzker Prize 25 years later) that I found very nice when I first heard about it. Anne Lacaton & Jean-Philippe Vassal were tasked to redesign a city square in Bordeaux and had the guts to tell the council "the square is great, don't change a thing!"
