The real SP 2150 was an MU equipped Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton (BLH) S-12. Reportedly: it was built in 1953 as SP 1543 Class DS-118, serial number 75918. In 1965 it was renumbered to SP 2150 SP Class B412-4. The disposition of this locomotive is reported as, Retired 1974 sold to Chrome Crankshaft. Resold to Kerr-McGee 100, renumbered to 844. Donated 1990 to Orange Empire Railway Museum.

The real WP 583 was a Baldwin VO-1000, WP Class S-60. Reportedly, it was built in 1945, serial 71542. It was sold in 1973, becoming Auto-Train 624.

"Frank's Office" was written in chalk over the door of Southern Pacific (SP) 2150. The Baldwin S12 was captured on Friday, December 28, 1973, in Taylor Yard, Los Angeles, CA.

United States Steel (USSX) 16, a Baldwin S-12, was working near Loveridge Rd. at the Pittsburg, CA Plant in or about 1975. Pittsburg's steel mill first opened in 1910 as Columbia Steel, a 60-man foundry. This plant is now closed.
USSX 16 was a Baldwin S-12 switcher. It reportedly was built in 1953, as MCR 30 construction number 75912. The following reporting marks and numbers have reportedly been associated with this locomotive: USSX 203, RAYO 203, MCR 203, FR&W 16. Reportedly this engine, "currently is slumbering in the engine house in McCloud."
