Not my fastest race, but very enjoyable! This year’s #ChicagoMarathon had perfect weather (if a bit on the warm side), but the race organizers had plenty of water and aid stations. I hear about 53,000 runners participated this year.

Well organized, good sized expo, great spectator support, and a fantastic view of many downtown districts in #Chicago. I would happily do this race again!

Today was always going to be about managing the heat, but with 3 loo stops in the first half I considered DNFing at Tower Bridge. I opted to continue using a run-walk strategy and only ended up with a 13 minute positive split in the end.

Not my fastest, not my slowest, but my last for a while, and I kept myself out of the medical tent (which was the main goal).

Definite shades of 2018, but with fewer water stations (and with more mileage between them in the first half) I think some problems could have been avoided. I wait to see what the attrition rate was. The ice was great (where it was available). Straight into the crop top it went.

53.74 miles (86.49km) completed in the week.

A little shakeout with the sister at Hampstead Heath #parkrun and jumped in to do some barcode scanning afterwards. All ready for tomorrow, even have my #flatlay done. Weather is looking far too hot, so I'll be taking it easy and trying to enjoy myself as much as possible. 1 day to go.

I had an easy 6 miles on the plan and an earlyish train into London, so ran down to join the Queen Square Run Club on their Friday doughnut run. It was to Small Goods, which was on my route home. Picked up a cinnamon bearclaw, and managed to run it the couple of km home without squashing it. 2 days to go.

My watch had a wobble on that run, reporting 5:20 per km downhill and 4:15 uphill. A reminder to run to feel rather than pace, especially on an easy run like this. At least I knew the distance was right, having used this route many times before. 5 days to go.

It is Patriots' Day and I am therefore legally obliged (along with anyone else who has run the #BostonMarathon) to don the blue and yellow, and post about their run. Mine was in 2019 and was the first time I went under 3:30. I went under 3:20 13 days later in London.

An easy 6 miles this morning, and I even managed to find some hills. 6 days to go.
