Il ministero degli Esteri iraniano ha confermato che la nuova Guida Suprema, Mojtaba Khamenei, è ferito ma ha assicurato che si sente bene. Ieri la Cnn ha riportato che Khamenei ha subito una frattura al piede e altre lievi ferite - un livido intorno all'occhio sinistro e lievi lacerazioni al viso - nel primo giorno di bombardamenti di Usa e Israele in Iran, quando sono stati uccisi il padre Ali Khamenei e sua moglie. Voci su un ferimento grave di Mojtaba Khamenei circolavano da diversi giorni, amplificate dal fatto che ancora non sia stato visto in pubblico né abbia parlato da quando è stato scelto come nuova Guida Suprema iraniana. In un'intervista al Guardian, l'ambasciatore iraniano a Cipro Alireza Salarian aveva sostenuto che era stato ferito alle gambe, a una mano e a un braccio. Sempre ieri, il figlio del presidente iraniano Masoud Pezeshkian, Yousef, aveva fatto sapere che Mojtaba Khamenei era rimasto ferito ma si trova "al sicuro e non ci sono preoccupazioni".
Ieri intanto l'Unione europea ha sanzionato 19 funzionari del regime e di entità responsabili di gravi violazioni dei diritti umani. Queste nuove sanzioni non colpiscono la nuova Guida Suprema dell'Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei. Secondo una fonte diplomatica, le nuove sanzioni non sono direttamente collegate alla guerra in Medio Oriente, ma piuttosto alla situazione repressiva in Iran. Fino a oggi erano stati sanzionati circa 247 individui e 50 entità per violazioni dei diritti umani. Tali sanzioni comprendono, tra le altre cose, il congelamento dei beni nell'Ue e il divieto di ingresso nel territorio dell'Unione europea.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is injured but assured that he feels well. Yesterday, CNN reported that Khamenei suffered a fractured foot and other minor injuries – a bruise around his left eye and minor lacerations to his face – on the first day of US and Israeli bombings in Iran, when his father Ali Khamenei and his wife were killed. Rumors of a serious injury to Mojtaba Khamenei had been circulating for several days, amplified by the fact that he had not been seen in public or spoken since he was chosen as the new Supreme Leader of Iran. In an interview with The Guardian, the Iranian ambassador to Cyprus, Alireza Salarian, had stated that he had been injured in his legs, a hand, and an arm. Yesterday, the son of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Yousef, also announced that Mojtaba Khamenei had been injured but is “safe and there are no concerns.”
Meanwhile, yesterday the European Union imposed sanctions on 19 regime officials and entities responsible for serious human rights violations. These new sanctions do not target the new Supreme Leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei. According to a diplomatic source, the new sanctions are not directly linked to the war in the Middle East, but rather to the repressive situation in Iran. To date, approximately 247 individuals and 50 entities have been sanctioned for human rights violations. Such sanctions include, among other things, the freezing of assets in the EU and the prohibition of entry into the territory of the European Union.
