I’m learning from books and I “know” the best way to learn from them is to work through them. But what I don’t know is how I’m doing. I’m often frustrated at my pace, since I don’t know what normal is.

And I need to learn stuff, to land a job. (I’m old. I want to pivot into a remote job, ergo devops. Anyway, that’s enough about me.)

So here’s the question(s),

1. How long do you take to work through a new text / proof / new book on a new topic that you don't know?

2. How long did it take you (if you remember) when you were just starting out?
3. Were you doing this on your own?
4. Were there other people / things / places that aided you?

Today I’m thinking about the workbooks mom used to buy for us over summer breaks to reduce learning loss. They included all sorts of educational puzzles and games that made learning fun.

I was disappointed by the fact that these books only went up to about grade 3 or 4.

I would have happily kept doing them every summer all the way until high school graduation if they’d had such things for older kids.

Learning without worrying about grades was so much easier.

Are there some My Little Pony japanese activity books? Especially ones that teach writing? I want some for myself to help teach me Hiragana and Katakana and maybe some Kanji, but also just learning words too. Just would be cute for me to do and I would feel EXTRA little not knowing what I am working on.
