I made this bowl a couple of years ago. I call it a Bird Wave Bowl bc the crest of each wave is the head of a black skimmer. It’s a slightly larger piece and with all of the vulnerable wave appendages, I was too nervous to ship it, so I kept it around and then ended up donating it to Suncoast #Waterkeepers art auction. They work to protect and restore the waters in our region.

I’m about to start on a new version of this form, this time decorated with my wild clay decorating slips. #pottery

How do you feel when you are walking through an urban area alongside a brook, creek or small river flowing with clean water? This is a rare experience in most of our urban centres where we have constrained the natural flows into sewers and underground conduits. It's time we liberate our water and begin to allow it to connect us more deeply to our natural world. https://newsinteractives.cbc.ca/features/2024/daylighting-rivers/ #waterkeepers

What about a #hamradio special event #WOTA #waterkeepers and #riverkeepers on the air? We could work people on #hf at riverkeeper sites and do #vhf #uhf #aprs via #kayak mobile. I really love to "light up" my local #Patuxent #riverkeepers site.

No special treatment for Mountain Valley Pipeline

The U.S. Forest Service, the agency charged with protecting and managing national forests, broke 11 of its own conservation rules governing old-growth forests, scenic viewsheds, soil health and more to accommodate one project — the Mountain Valley Pipeline. The courts rejected this free pass to cut through the protected Jefferson National Forest two separate times — in 2018 and in 2022. Now, the agency is trying to rewrite that same permit for the MVP and has opened a new public comment period. Your help is needed to tell the U.S. Forest Service there should be no special exceptions for this harmful project. Changing the rules for corporate profit is NOT acceptable. America's national forests are held in the public trust as special lands — they harbor headwaters for drinking water supplies, habitat for rare animals and plants, scenic beauty and recreational spots where we rejuvenate our spirits. They should not be destroyed by the fossil fuel industry for private gain. Changing the rules for private corporate profit is not acceptable. Send your comment to the Forest Service before February 6!

Tell the Army Corps: Don’t grant MVP’s permit!

Mountain Valley Pipeline still lacks permission to cross hundreds of waterways along the pipeline route — but the pipeline developers have submitted new filings to attempt to obtain a 404 Clean Water Act permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In response to these new filings, the agency has opened a new public comment period until February 10, and your voice is needed! The 404 permit would allow MVP to pollute pristine streams and rivers that are home to many endangered and sensitive species. And the construction process and related dumping of material and sediment will alter wetlands, harm drinking water sources and disturb recreation and tourism. This pipeline is not in the public interest! The risks to our water resources outweigh the unnecessary and redundant methane gas capacity this project could provide. Tell the Army Corps: Deny MVP’s permit!
