The weather was nice, so the kayaks (and the wetsuits) came out today! #kayaking #Patuxent
I went #kayaking today on the very low Rocky Gorge Reservoir (part of the #Patuxent river) near Fulton, Maryland. It was very windy (20-30 km/h with gusts to 40?), and I wouldn't have done it before the recent Scotland trip, where I learned to read the water and respond appropriately. Water temperature was 20 C so not all that threatening.
In March I posted a photo taken near where I took these (#Croom, #Maryland, on the #Patuxent) that was low-tide mud and dead sticks. #Kayaking yesterday in a gentle rain (and a break in the heat) was fantastic. Seasons are amazing. #MarshMadness #kayak
A little #kayaking yesterday near Fulton, Maryland (on the #Patuxent, of course!). Spring is trying to get here!!
#silentsunday #Kayaking #sunset Near Nottingham, Maryland, USA on the #Patuxent river.
Tempting to use #SilentSunday but I can't. #Kayaking on the #Patuxent near Upper Marlboro, #Maryland, USA. It was near high tide so the water was still. The sky was gray to start but it turned into a dazzling sunset.....
@Swede1952 I see ospreys a lot while kayaking (the tidal #Patuxent) in particular. They are beautiful birds and I've learned their calls (and also how much space I need to give their nests to avoid making them nervous).
@ericphelps Where are you? I kayaked on the #Patuxent near Upper Marlboro, Maryland, USA....the trees that still had leaves were gorgeous but most had lost their leaves. High tide so not much current, nice temperatures and low wind. I'll post some photos if I can find the time!
