Why are some leaving @godotengine over the "Wokot" controversy?
Using Godot isn't supporting the @godotfoundation, and there's no vendor lock-in (Thanks open-source!), so — unless their politics effect the software — I don't think this matters.
The issue (AFAIK) is that they blocked a bunch of people, but the Foundation admitted that. This is only a problem if it keeps happening.
TLDR: The controversy isn't about the engine, just community management.
@z00kiee I've been in FOSS for quite some time too! 😅
I'm sorry if you or your friends have been bullyed and labelled as pedos in the past by 3rd party FOSS projects. I do not endorse those divisive and illegal behaviours.
The post is apolitical and does not judge the company, it only expresses an informed opinion about the #wokot initiative and how its public backlash has been handled.
Behold! The Non-Political Game™! Made in the #Wokot engine! (because it's woke™ to use game engines!)
Edit: also probably “Simpsons did it”, so add #postmodernism.
