@emperorofmars Universal Scene Description (USD) is a good candidate for a new standard interchange format. It was created by Pixar but it's Open Source. I think FOSS projects like Godot and Blender should invest heavily in compatibility and further development of USD, since it's already relatively commonly used and is already Open Source.

⚙ D7664 Alembic: new exporter based on the USD exporter structure

Last week I finished some final tweaks to Blender's @[email protected] Universal Scene Description exporter, and I took it out of the "experimental" features. It's now always enabled in our daily builds!
