September 4, 1983: The AT bypassed the cliffs which towered over the pond, but there were several great viewpoints atop rock outcrops along that climb, overlooking an immense, L-shaped valley encircled by the lofty, wooded heights of Mount Wolf, Mount Kinsman, and several of their spur ridges.

Good day!

We’re in this weather cycle where it’s really cold, as in well below freezing, but when moisture moves into the region, we become crazy warm.

Thus, rain.

More like occasional drizzle. The trails become mud, but then the cycle repeats and the mud freezes.

Be everwell.

Eight+ hours of sleep, a thorough warm up, then a run through the slush – it’s warm enough for the snow to melt, but there hasn’t been enough time so far. So this was a wet feet run… And then it happened: I tried a new path and got so thoroughly lost, I ended up #Running in the opposite direction from the one I had intended to go. This was extremely baffling to me. Usually, I have a really good sense of where I am, but this time, with all the snow and slush, I didn’t recognize a few of the trails I had run on dozens of times before. So strange. In the end, I ended up with roughly 5 kilometers more than I had planned. At least, I had a great new audiobook to keep me company: Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman. Fast paced, lots of action, nerdy, funny. Reminded me of Scott Meyerβ€˜s WIZARD 2.0 series. Back at home, I did my 3,500 jumps, then off to the shower. What a day! #applewatchultra3 #winter #trails #aalen

Good day!

I shouldn’t complain because I’ll get money back, but I need to face my taxes soon.

What a strange concept, having to pay to pay our taxes. Sounds like β€œinsult to injury.”

Who do we pay? A corporation. Who owns corporations? Yup.

Be everwell.

Good day!

I went for a hike. Was there snow? Just a few flakes in the air, and what was hiding higher on the mountain.

It was plenty cold, though, the ground frozen.

If I want snow, I’m going to have to go where it’s hiding in gulches and on northward facing slopes.

Be everwell.

Good day!

So, here’s my real issue.

Look at the width of your thumb. After four days, that’s how much moisture we got.

The west may burn this summer.

There’s snow higher, but not what’s needed. We’ve had less than half of our normal moistureβ€”for years now.

Be everwell.

Good day!

Day four of the great winter storm that was forecasted begins. It’s been shocking, beginning with almost enough snow to cover the grass.

It melted an hour later.

Then came the torrential drizzle. Well, sometimes.

I feel fortunate to have survived.

Be everwell.

Logs, logs, logs. But no computer logs. Real ones, ~100 of them. In my way. In three different places. I had to switch directions 3x because there simply was no getting through – what an annoyance! Then there was only one choice left: go back up (yuck!) or take a mountainbike trail down. I opted for the latter, no fun. At least, to my great joy, that went only as far as ~300-400 meters. Afterwards, the usual 2,500+ jumps with my fake rope. Ready for the day! #Running #applewatchultra3 #trails

Hype for the Future 108D β†’ Modern Suburban Developments in Smaller Communities

Introduction Though suburban sprawl often dominates in the modern outskirts of major and even minor cities, smaller communities, often of fewer than twenty-five thousand (25,000) residents, may have a more comprehensive sidewalk or related infrastructural network, even in the suburban zones. Within such suburban zones, however, the sidewalk network is often identified in the abstract as substandard, as with the sidewalk networks along major highways in modern suburban […]
