The Maker or The Clay — An Arrow in the Void
The Maker or The Clay — An Arrow in the Void
by Stewart Stafford
A flatline sermon on cardiac arrhythmia,
Pulsing tone-beings, evolving past instinct.
A Tower of Babel of elevated thought
Or foundational hubris of divine architecture?
The sole creature knowingly stalked by time —
A trap witnessed, endured, then subverted,
Painfully lucid throughout the procedure,
To cast off the sentient, earthly millstone.
Jousting with transience via lanced invention,
Only what is conceived survives as legacy.
All fleshly matter dies, withers, and recycles;
Doing is being; the remnant is the void.
Synthetic progeny sired in silicon —
The technocrat archer reaims into the infinite.
