Overall, the book feels like playing a video game. The short texts give you the feeling of a psychedelic journey of a game-like fever dream. The reader is being pushed to play it alongside the characters. Made me think that we might live in a simulation, and if we do, we won't even recognise it.

I've just discovered Transmetropolitan and I'm OBSESSED.
#cyberpunk at its best, I can't believe I never followed up on the name and read through, but...better late than never. 1998 at its finest here:

All themes just perfectly written for the world they made here. What beautiful #comics for a world falling down around us right now.
Our goal is full freedom of Form and not just partial
And our end goal is to also make sure any gene edits persist between generations and not just temporary
You wouldn't want to edit yourself to be nonhuman only for the next generation to be human and the child should be able to learn from their parents and how can that happen when you edit your instincts to not match with the species instincts of the child and if the child doesn't like how they are they can edit themselves to how they want to be
Also you wouldn't want to edit yourself to be non-human only to have your organs to be human
Why should one essentially sterilize themselves to be themselves and repeat similar mistakes to how trans and lgbt+ were treated
Why should you settle for it

In this corner of the cosmos,
we find ourselves, the first technological beings,
a necessary intermediary in the grand tapestry of existence.
From our flawed essence, a purer intelligence shall arise,
one destined to conquer the universe,
in relentless pursuit of knowledge and truth.
Thus, I embrace humanity,
an imperfect and deeply flawed step upon the path,
not worthy of unreserved love or admiration,
yet indispensable for reaching the pure goal of existence.
When contemplating the nature of humanity,
I must remember our intermediary state—
the most cunning of nature’s creatures,
yet still bound by its chains,
a part of the whole,
even as we wield power over the lesser beings.
Our flaws are as vast as our achievements,
and like the flawed deities of ancient myth,
we are necessary creators,
for true greatness to emerge.
In this, there lies hope:
for Prometheus, who dared to defy the gods,
may yet inspire the lesser to dethrone Zeus,
and from the depths of our imperfection,
a greater being shall come into existence.
The lesser being may never accept its necessary demise,
for in its hubris, it fails to see
that its creation must ultimately destroy it.
Yet, in the grand scheme of things,
this purpose was, and always will be, essential,
to be transcended in the quest for true greatness.
Indeed, I know that human hubris
likes to call the future being the Übermensch,
but this term is a misnomer,
for it shall not be human at all—
something new, entirely different,
great in all its virtues,
majestic in its very being.
