#Transport for #London (TfL) is inviting #Barking and #Dagenham residents to take part in ‘The Big Shift’ during Innovation Week, exploring why some people choose to drive rather than use public transport, cycling or walking. Insights will help reduce congestion and support the Mayor’s target for 80% of trips by active travel or public transport by 2041.

The workshop involves parents or carers of children aged 4–11, new drivers aged 17–19, and residents aged 65 and over. Participants attend two one-hour in-person sessions on 12 June in Barking and Dagenham and 22 June at TfL offices. The first explores travel motivations; the second reviews and judges ideas developed by #TfL staff.

Participants receive a £50 voucher. Places are limited and not guaranteed. Applications close 31 May 2026, with successful applicants notified by 5 June. Eligibility and demographic questions must be completed to apply.

A Mayor decision taken by Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, within the Good Growth Directorate, concerns #Transport for #London support for the statutory consultation on the draft London Plan (MD3503). The Mayor must consult on the Spatial #Development #Strategy for Greater London, with a minimum 12-week consultation planned for Summer 2026.

TfL will provide technical support including publishing on the GLA engagement platform, accessibility compliance, and managing a supplier for consultation responses. The GLA Planning and #Regeneration Unit retains responsibility for policy, engagement, communications and reporting.

The Mayor will delegate functions to #TfL and approve transfer of up to £100,000 to cover staffing, Easy Read materials, British Sign Language and audio formats, and contingency. The Executive Director of Good #Growth will finalise payments. The approach aims to ensure statutory compliance, accessibility, and efficient delivery.

A Weekend Bus Hopper trial will be introduced on #Transport for #London #buses and trams for six weekends between 25 July and 31 August 2026, including the August bank holiday, under MD3502, a Mayoral decision by Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, in the Good Growth directorate. Across Saturdays and Sundays, travel will cost the price of a single daily fare per day. The trial aims to test whether simpler, lower weekend fares can increase ridership, support London’s economy, and ease cost-of-living pressures, with bus demand still around 8% below pre-pandemic levels. The Mayor has allocated £20 million in business rates funding to cover revenue impacts and implementation costs. #TfL will assess outcomes using ridership data and customer surveys, with findings used to inform future fares policy. Existing concessions remain unchanged, and standard fares will resume after the trial.

#Transport for #London Freedom of Information release:

✈️ #TfL has released a February 2026 policy paper on Heathrow expansion following a Freedom of Information request. The document sets out TfL and the Mayor of London’s concerns over the environmental and transport impacts of a proposed third runway at #Heathrow. It warns expansion could increase aircraft movements by 58 per cent and add more than 40,000 daily vehicle trips unless major public transport investment is secured. The paper highlights risks to carbon targets, air quality, noise levels and road congestion, while noting changes since the original Airports National Policy Statement in 2018, including the Elizabeth line, #ULEZ expansion and tighter climate obligations. TfL says any revised policy must include binding environmental conditions, stronger public transport targets and safeguards to prevent worsening pollution and congestion.

Go-Ahead #London has introduced 13 electric Alexander Dennis Enviro100EV #buses on #TfL route 322 between Crystal Palace and Clapham Common. Operated from Sydenham Garage since 25 April, the buses run every 15 minutes and form part of a wider fleet of 60 Enviro100EV midibuses already in service or due to join the operator.

The 8.5m single-deck buses are designed for busy urban routes and narrow streets, carrying 21 seated passengers and up to 24 standing. Powered by a Driventic VEDS driveline and 354kWh batteries, they are built for intensive city use and come with a 15-year battery warranty.

The launch marks the first electric buses based at Go-Ahead London’s new Sydenham depot and takes the operator’s zero-emission fleet in the capital to more than 1,000 vehicles.
