Cutty Sark DLR station will reopen on Monday 23 March after major upgrade works were completed earlier than expected, Transport for London has announced. The station closed to allow the installation of four new heavy-duty escalators to improve reliability and help manage high passenger numbers. The reopening comes ahead of the #London Marathon and the Easter holidays, typically busy periods for Greenwich.

During the closure, #TfL also carried out a range of improvements, including a new lift for faster access, brighter wall panels, energy-efficient LED lighting, upgraded safety systems and a deep clean of customer areas. The ceiling above the upper escalators has been raised to create a more open space, and new artwork celebrating Greenwich has been installed with Visit Greenwich.

TfL said the works form part of its wider programme to modernise stations and improve accessibility across the network.

#Transport for #London Freedom of Information release:
#TfL has confirmed there are no known verified cases of revenue protection impersonators defrauding customers. Social media campaigns advising passengers to check ID have been reactive, created to counter misinformation rather than respond to specific incidents. TfL cited two related events: in March 2023, real inspectors were mistakenly reported as fake, prompting British Transport Police involvement and train PA announcements; and in October 2025, real inspectors were briefly approached by pranksters posing as inspectors, considered a social media stunt rather than fraud. Any impersonation incidents are treated as crimes and referred to police.

#TfL is exploring ways to add Oyster cards to mobile wallets like Apple Wallet and link National Railcards to registered contactless bank cards. The move would allow passengers to use their phones for travel and access railcard discounts. No UK travel cards are currently supported on Apple Wallet. TfL is developing new card readers to support additional payment methods and is working with the Department for Transport and the Rail Delivery Group. Integration will require careful planning, and no delivery date has been confirmed.
