I am pleased to announce that the Prospect trade union's national conference has approved a pretty much ideal set of policies supporting trans+ people.
This included voting down a more equivocal motion brought by the union's National Executive Committee.
I'm proud today of my comrades who spoke in the debate, and of my trade union for taking such a strong and principled position.

Pro-Palestinian activists have launched a new campaign at the port of Gioia Tauro in southern #Italy aimed at disrupting military supplies involved in the #Gaza #genocide.
The new action dubbed “Global Intifada Disarm” was launched during a maritime and land demonstration at the port as five boats from the #ThousandMadleensToGaza initiative approached the Calabrian port in a symbolic protest against Italy’s war economy and supply chains.
The 29 May mobilisation, called by grassroots #TradeUnions and the #MovementOfYoungPalestinians in Italy, saw demonstrations across the country, from ports and logistics hubs to factories identified by campaigners as being linked to #military production and supply chains connected to #Israel.
"When #Reform UK won control of #Durham county council last year, one of the party’s first moves in power was to take down the rainbow flag that flew over its headquarters. Soon after, it announced it was axing funding for the city’s Pride event.
“#DurhamPride won’t be getting a single penny from this council next year,” the deputy leader, Darren Grimes, said last summer. “Taxpayers shouldn’t be bankrolling it.”
But in a testament to an enduring relationship forged during the miners’ strikes of the 1980s, this year’s event has returned bigger than ever, thanks to funding from #TradeUnions."
