Last Saturday saw the 213 heritage running day between Sutton and Kingston. Here are my photos from the day, plus the obligatory lecture! The website has undergone an unexpected emergency rebrand (thank you Wordpress), so please excuse any temporary glitches. https://lccmunicipal.com/2026/06/20/on-the-buses/ #213 #buses #Municipal

Five-week warning to disabled people using National Entitlement Card for free bus travel

When you don’t support more active forms of #transportation like #publictransit and #cycling, this is the world we are supporting: #cars congesting much of the road. This is Marshall road clogged up from Sumas Way all the way to McKenzie road on a Wednesday afternoon. If you just add another lane for #singleoccupancy cars, you get the exact same issue: just another lane of #congestion only slightly shorter. But if you were instead to put in a lane for #buses and #cyclists, then we would have a new lane that actually moves people keep quickly than just another car lane. And when public #transit becomes faster and more reliable than cars, more people will pick transit over their cars, and that in turn also makes the road better for those who need to use cars for things like transporting items as they will have less congestion in their lanes from more people using the bus instead of a car for transporting people. Communities around BC are headed to #municipal #elections this fall, and if #Abbotsford wants to get out of its congestion issues, it’s time to vote for a #mayor and #council that will improve transit and other forms of active transportation that will get our roads moving quicker, like more #buslanes as well as brining the #Skytrain or another two-way passenger #rail service from Metro #Vancouver into Abbotsford. Let’s build transportation in this city that’s better designed to move people around #town, not one to move the car companies’ profits.

Gotta catch my #bus from the South Mall in #corkcity. According to its on-board live GPS tracker. It leaves in 9 minutes exactly...

#Stagecoach is supporting Better #Transport Week (15–21 June), organised by Campaign for Better Transport, which this year focuses on how transport connects people and places. The bus and coach operator says the campaign reflects its commitment to providing accessible, sustainable and affordable travel options.

To mark the week, Stagecoach is sharing three customer stories that highlight the role #buses can play in everyday life. One passenger described how affordable travel helped them get to college and later travel across north-east Scotland. Another said reliable services and supportive drivers made settling into a new town easier. A third passenger recounted how helping a visually impaired traveller on a bus led to a lasting friendship.

Stagecoach says buses offer a cost-effective alternative to car travel while also supporting local communities and social connections.
