Arriva has unveiled a £340m investment to modernise its #UK bus operations, with West Yorkshire first to receive new lower-emission buses. The programme will replace nearly 20% of the regional fleet within 18 months, adding over 500 new vehicles, half of them fully electric, and refurbishing 150 existing buses. A further 300 #buses will join Arriva’s #London fleet. Depot upgrades, including electrification at eight sites, will support zero-emission operations. Arriva says the investment aims to improve customer experience, reduce congestion, cut emissions and demonstrate its long-term commitment to sustainable UK public #transport.

The Tees Valley Combined Authority has secured £11million from the Department for #Transport to add 82 more electric #buses from 2027 and fully electrify two further depots, bringing the region’s total to three. This will raise the electric fleet to 170 vehicles, making over half the local buses zero-emission. The funding builds on a previous £7.8million grant and £21.7million from operators, which delivered 61 electric buses and partial depot electrification. Local leaders say the investment will improve reliability, reduce environmental impact, and support a modern, sustainable transport network across Tees Valley.
