Barley gruel with cabbage and carrots (just as white and mellow as you can imagine - the one excess I added was creme fraice) turned out to gel _really_ well with mayak eggs. The culture clash was... hm... probably more of a culture *glorp* but still palpable in the kitchen. No regrets, though.
