I've been using #Outlook for a number of years (I’m exclusively Apple, but my university uses #Office365 / #Exchange). Decided to try going back to #Apple #Mail also using #Spamsieve ( @spamsieve ). After a few days, it seems so much better not to have to wrestle with the @MS behemoth and to have seemingly more granular control of things.

Fingers crosses that this may stick.

@peternlewis are you happy with SpamAssassin? My experience with it wasn't stellar (but it was a whhhhhiiiillle back). I use #SpamSieve (https://c-command.com/spamsieve/ from @mjtsai) now—running on one Mac in Drone mode. You continuously train it so if it misclassifies an email and you “tell” it, it will quickly reclassify similar ones.
SpamSieve: Most Accurate Spam Filter for Mac

SpamSieve is an extremely accurate and easy to use Bayesian spam filter for Mac e-mail programs. Macworld’s “Software of the Year.” Download our free trial here.

Okay, with two decades of use from the initial purchase, I'd say @spamsieve was a pretty good deal. The new 3.0 update is an insta-buy.

I’ve started using Spamdrain to keep my inbox free from unwanted email. I was running SpamSieve. It worked well but only on my MacBook. I was looking for a solution across all platforms including iOS. Try it out and get a clean inbox by clicking on https://spamdrain.com/en/index.html?cp=c_247932

I gave up on Apple’s #Mail app for #macOS several years ago and I am a very happy #MailMate user, with built-in support for @mjtsai’s #SpamSieve and with a built-in feature for filing mail away with the keyboard that works just as well for me as #MsgFiler (which I had) did in Mail.

However, #Mail is still used and will continue to be used by several people I support, and I have set them up with SpamSieve, so I will have to monitor the situation closely. https://mastodon.social/@mjtsai/110544002523032547

@clathrin Mark as spam or report junk. I just train #spamsieve and then #bayesian algorithm takes care of the rest. I provide enough #bigdata daily to keep training the app.

TIL that the “greylisting” on my hosted mail servers is effectively just as bad as blacklisting because, while it might be temporary, if nothing changes anywhere, it keeps happening again, and again, and again.

https://docs.cpanel.net/cpanel/email/configure-greylisting/

So I’m turning it off right now to use client-side spam filtering EXCLUSIVELY. I’d rather teach my users how to use @mjtsai’s #SpamSieve properly than depend on servers doing what servers tend to do, i.e. find problems where there are none.

This interface allows you to enable or disable Greylisting for each domain on your account. Greylisting defends email users against spam.
